Looking for the Right People
Donald Trump, host of the show, reports that great efforts were made to narrow down a large pool of applicants. As the show has grown in popularity, celebrities hoping to reignite their careers and those wishing to bring some much needed attention to their favorite charities have joined the cast.
Members of the cast will be assigned tasks to complete in the New York City area. They are to use their talents, connections and business skills to pass weekly challenges. Donald Trump and his advisors will stand in judgment in the Boardroom at the end of each show, firing one apprentice. Those that remain will go on to the next challenge.
As an additional incentive, the manager of the winning team will get to present a check to their selected charity after each task is completed. Of course each contestant hopes to be the "last man standing" at the end of the season, joining the ranks of Joan Rivers, Piers Morgan and Bret Michaels, the previous winners of Celebrity Apprentice 1, 2 and 3.
Reviews Positive so Far
While not many people have been treated to a sneak peak at the show’s opening episode, those that have seen it have good things to say. In fact, there seems to be a great deal of agreement that the first apprentice let go was spot on. If you want to know who gets the boot you will just have to tune in.
Lindsay Lohan Turned Down
Even before the show hits the air next month, rumors of controversy have begun. According to Donald Trump, Lindsay Lohan’s parents put in a request for her to join the cast. The request was denied, says Trump, because the young starlet needs to get her life in order. Considering that the judge presiding over Miss Lohan’s current trial has already stated she will be spending some time in jail it is unlikely that she could have fulfilled any commitment to the show in any case.
Not so Guilty Pleasure
Mark Burnett, executive producer of Celebrity Apprentice is delighted with the lead up to this season’s show. While many dedicated watchers consider the show to be a "guilty pleasure" of sorts, it is hard to condemn a program that will be handing out so much money to a variety of deserving charities. The last time the show aired in this format $1.25 million were raised and donated. This year’s totals are expected to be significantly higher.
Who will Triumph? Your Guess is as Good as Mine
Clearly it is way too early to hazard any realistic guesses about which of the 16 cast members will make it through to the end of the season. The final episode will air on May 22, 2011, and only one apprentice will remain when the curtain falls on Celebrity Apprentice 2011. Who do you favor?
